Mojito drink

I usually prefer a vodka cocktail but this time I made mojito drink just for a change. It ended delicious. Next time I will add a little bit more rum though.

Ingredients:

  • 3 slices of lime
  • 1 sprig of mint
  • ice
  • 1 tbsp. sugar or any syrup (optional)
  • 1.5 oz. to 2 oz. rum
  • soda water
Directions:

Mash limes and mint with pestle to release the mint oils and lime juice. Add ice and pour rum over it. Fill with soda water according to your taste. Stir and add sugar or syrup if desired.

Enjoy!

Purple Rain

I had this drink at Hayes Mansion in the Palm Plaza Lounge with patio sitting.

Summer sangria

Sangria is a typical beverage from Spain. It is a refreshing punch made of wine, fruits and brandy.

There are many variations of it. This is the one that worked for me and easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 750 ml red wine
  • 4 peaches, sliced
  • 2 oranges, sliced
  • juice of 2 oranges
  • 1 cup brandy (for a kick!)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup, agave nectar, or sugar
Please be aware the amount of sugar depends on your taste. I particularly don't need or like very sweet things.

Directions:

In a large pitcher mix all the ingredients. For a better flavor, let the mix for a few hours or overnight before drinking it.

A healthy and nutritious homemade smoothie

In Care2 website, there is a good article about Chia seeds health benefits. It seems to be quite expensive. The article said it will cost $20 for a pound.

Hurray! I was able to get a pound of organic raw Chia seeds at Whole Food Market yesterday for $11.99.So today I just made right away a healthy and delicious homemade blueberry smoothie. It is easy to make, cheap and delicious!

Do you want to give a try? In a blender, add 2 cups of blueberries, 2 cups of non-dairy frozen yogurt, 1 1/2 cups almond milk, 2 tbsp ground golden flaxseed, 2 tbsp chia seeds... and voila! Why buying all those already made at the market with additives, preservatives, colorants, etc, etc? Luckily, I don't have sweet teeth but you can add sugar or maple syrup.

Here are some of the smoothies I make at home.

In the first picture, the smoothie has strawberry, mango, and banana mixed with almond milk.
